Test Engineer

Description:The primary responsibility of this role will be the acquisition and interpretation of product performance information through the development and execution of test plans and procedures and analysis of the resulting data. This responsibility includes designing and developing test equipment and apparatus utilizing in-house and outside resources.
The Test Engineer will work closely with Design Engineers, Quality Engineers, Safety Committee members, Implementation Engineers, outside testing facilities, and the Quality Manager and Marketing personnel to prepare overall test programs, publish procedures, perform tests, interpret data and present the results to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
The Test Engineer will be a member of a cross functional team including design engineers, industrial design, marketing, sourcing and purchasing responsible for delivering innovative, cost effective solutions to customer needs on time and under budget.
Duties:-Execute test plans using a variety of manual, automated, and programmable instruments to generate meaningful data on product performance.
-Perform and assist in the design, fabrication and programming of specialized test equipment for various products and performance metrics.
-Analyze, interpret and present data using appropriate statistical methods to determine meaningful differences between products and to understand the underlying physics of product performance.
-Develop, formalize and publish test procedures for use by other engineers and technicians, including suppliers and other Gerber locations.
-Apply understanding of product behavior to specific product design issues to help optimize product for both cost and performance.
Bachelors degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering. Coursework in statistics, experimental methods, product design and/or machine design

1-3 years experience in product design and/or laboratory testing.

Proven experiences or successes: Microsoft Office Suite; capable of basic prototype/fixture fabrication Operation of automated, programmable equipment; 3D CAD/solid modeling package; basic material knowledge including plastics and steel; statistical analysis; DOE experience; gage R&R;
