|Description:||Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all engineering activities including designing, budgeting, and implementing projects. Ensures that Engineering activities are timely and completed in accordance with established quality standards and procedures. Develops and implements policies that ensure effective completion of area functions. Coordinates closely with related departments to maintain schedules and effect necessary changes and revisions. Assigns, trains, directs, and appraises Engineering personnel. Ensures that safety regulations are closely adhered to. Completes related documentation as required.|
|Duties:||1. Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of effective Engineering Department planning, policies, and procedures.|
a. Assists Senior Management in developing short and long term goals and objectives. Provides suggestions and recommendations.
b. Participates in developing Department policies and procedures and ensures that they support and complement Company-wide strategic objectives.
c. Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies. Ensures that policies are updated and in accordance with evolving engineering and quality standards.
d. Participates in budget development.
e. Participates in new business development.
2. Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of Engineering functions.
a. Oversees design and implementation processes.
b. Monitors and supervises production quality, including inspection and testing of all projects. Identifies problems and resolves them quickly and effectively.
c. Regulates work flow to ensure maximum effienciency. Monitors utilization of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
d. Writes procedure documents and completes related reports and records.
e. Supervises the allocation and distribution of materials.
f. Ensures that inventory transactions are correctly documented.
g. Ensures that Engineering functions are completed in accordance with established production, safety, and quality standards.
3. Effectively supervises assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance.
a. Provides leadership through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication.
b. Directs and assigns personnel. Provides assistance and support as needed.
c. Trains, advises, and counsels employees and provides suggestions to improve performance and productivity.
d. Conducts performance appraisals as required. Formulates and implements employee corrective actions as needed.
e. Assists with personnel decisions including hiring, terminations, wage decisions, and promotions.
4. Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relationships with Company personnel and management.
a. Works closely with other departments to maintain schedules and implement changes and revisions in operational procedures.
b. Provides assistance and support to related departments as required.
c. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
5. Assumes responsibility for the effective implementation and on-going review of safety compliance procedures.
a. Ensures that all engineering personnel are well informed of established safety regulations.
b. Develops and oversees safety training sessions.
c. Conducts ongoing inspections of operations, tests, and processes to ensure that both internal and external safety requirements are met.
d. Provides support and assistance to safety inspectors as required.
e. Ensures that all safety documentation is accurate and current, and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
6. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
b. Stays informed of developments and changes in engineering technologies.
c. Performs production duties and special projects as assigned.
d. Attends and conducts meetings as needed.
College degree in engineering.
MBA or advanced engineering degree preferred.
Excellent understanding of Company operations.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, procedures, and standards.
Thorough knowledge of current requirements and regulations.
Past managerial and technical experience.
Business development and project management experience.
Well organized with strong planning and management skills.
Attention to detail.
Able to organize multiple projects.
Strong problem solving abilities.
Strong PC computing skills, including MS Office and engineering software. (i.e. Solidworks)
